may i use milk to dissolve the dry yeast? dont u use any sugar? and what is corn meal? :( sorry im not too good with ingredients. i only have made bread thrice and only 1 of them turn out with crispy crust and chewy loaves… with black burns ^_^’a (dunt have any oven with temperature so a plain pan used for popcorn)

foxbytes @ 10:58 am

You can dissolve yeast in milk…but it will make a softer bread. I use water, and I don’t use sugar in my Italian bread. If you can’t find corn meal, you can dust the pans with flour. I think it would be difficult to be able to bake bread in a popcorn pan.

yea… its very difficult coz i have to check it in a while. really have to buy an oven. oh, what i made be4 isnt italian bread, instead of sesame seed, i used peanuts and other kinds of nuts also added margarine(to prevent black at the bottom, but it burned anyway :p)

im making the dough for this right now, but i think i’ll let it keep overnight in the fridge. i like a stronger tasting bread. and i HOPE my bread doesn’t turn into bricks like alot of the other ppl comments say. Also, i dont have the right type of loaf pans – so… i’m gonna say a prayer that it turns out yummy for my family. i hate wasting ingredients – hopefully it’ll taste yummy to go with our beef stew tomorrow.

How much water is in the second bowl? I think you missed that instruction. Could you send or post the exact ingredients?

Thanks for the recipe, I am a new to baking but tried this out. I did 1/2 the recipe and the hardest part for me was working with the dough, it looks like the key is tons of flour.. My rolls dont look as smooth and clean but just pulled them out and they look ok. I will update on the taste.

Thanks!

Working on my second round of this recipe now. Will take practice to perfect, but I think I’ll get better after a few tries. I think the trick is to get the consistency right before you let it rise so the right amount of kneading (not too much) can be applied.
I bought the song too! Thanks!

i never understood why people buy kitchenaid standing mixers. they are a pain the ass, and i cant see anything good about them, if you only bake small things. they dont blend evenly, its hard to add ingredients, and you have to scrape the sides down, and end up strring the missed ingredients anyway. pasta maker is the only thing about it that makes any sense, for the everyday person.
