Cake Decorating: Fun With Fondant

FYI: I am making a DVD with Robin showing how to make all kinds of fondant cakes. If you’d like to know when it’s available, send me a message thru my channel page. Thanks to everybody! =) Fondant adds a special zest to cakes, pastries, and candies. See for yourself as a cake decorator creates fun with fondant. zof31091 @ 12:07 pm

wow, looks so strange to me O__O
the “american” way to make cakes is different from the “italian” way.
I’m italian, we don’t use to frost our cakes, indeed we use home-made whipped cream to cover the cake more ingredients in the inside (usually vanilla custard and chocolate) and simple ingredients for the decoration(chocolate, custard, fruit..) WITHOUT colourings! thats’ why this cake looks plastic to me, not inviting at all…

AFaULTLinE11 @ 4:19 pm

In America we have cakes like that too(dessert cakes). I agree though that cake isn’t very inviting, kind of boring! I work at a bakery and we make everything homemade.

good

Using a pizza cutter to cut off the extra fondant also works very nicely.

Nanoha1287 @ 12:18 am

wow so beautiful…
i dun even bare to eat it O_O

zof31091 @ 8:21 am

I’m sorry I didnt mean to be rude, just sincere. of curse she seems to be a nice person and her cake is certainly colorful and pretty to see, but doesn’t mean it must be inviting as a FOOD to me.
Anyway we love color, comedy, love and artistry too, I can assure you ;) but we are particulary touchy about traditions (as it is food for italians)

i don’t think it’s exclusively “american”…fondant cakes are sold in almost every bake shop in the world.
